I'm Tickled Pink!

Wife-made is going to the Tickled Pink Market!  It's my first market ever, and boy, have I got BIG plans!  Cos after all, if you're gonna travel a thousand kilometres to go to a market, you'd better make it pretty spectacular.

And, if that's not setting myself up for a major fall, I don't know what is.

But seriously, I have almost been dreaming about everything I want to make for this market.  The other night, as I was crawling into bed at 11pm I pined to my husband how I wished we didn't have to sleep, because I get so much more done when the kids are asleep!

Nevertheless, I have two months to prepare, and prepare I shall!  I have just finished a little boys nap quilt called 'Poor Humpty'.  I do realise that it's not necessary to name everything I make, but I pour so much time and effort into something and tend to get a little attached...

Today is rainy and wet, and the quilt has just been washed and is drying (attempting to dry) on the line outside so I'll take some better photos later.

So, if you happen to be in Emerald on July 20, make sure you get yourself to the Tickled Pink Markets because I hear it's gonna be a blast :)

Dolly Love

With the last two posts being all about my wonderful family :), I thought I'd better hurry up and post about something I've made lately.  Which, to be honest, has been hard to come by since I've been crazy busy with life lately.  But, here's my latest.  FINALLY.  A dolly quilt and pillow for the Rosebud's birthday.

I found the little cradle at a local online vintage and secondhand store.  It had a little dolly in it when I picked it up, but it was channelling a little too much 'Chucky' (hair was falling out, no clothes, crazy eyes, a little beyond redemption...) and I didn't want to give the Rosebud nightmares so I left it with the lady.  I think the cradle must be at least thirty years old...?  Possibly older?  The enamel is peeling off everywhere, but I think that gives it a bit of old world charm.  I love vintage.

The little quilt and pillow turned out exactly as I had hoped.  I'm really happy with it.  It's got cotton batting in the quilt, so Rosie's little dolls will be warm in winter and cool in summer.  Just perfect for our climate ;)

The Rosebud loves it too.  She's been tucking 'Bubba Boy' in and pulling him out, feeding him, tucking him back in, rocking him to sleep.  I love how she's progressed into imaginative play now.  It's lovely to see her pretending like that.

Bubba Boy is actually a she, but every doll is now a boy since Lewis arrived :)
"Good girl, Bubba Boy" she says as she plays.  Too cute.

My darling bud of May

Today is the Rosebud's second birthday.

Hard to believe it's been two years since this little one came into our lives.  She's so precious.  But of course, I am very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very biased.

She's definitely hit the 'twos' (terrible isn't so nice - perhaps 'trying' is better?).  Daniel just likes to say that she's blossoming in every area of her life - including the naughty bits :)

She's a real hoot, too.  Got a good sense of humour this one.  A little bit on the cheeky side.

In many ways she's like her Daddy.  I think she'll be a reader.  She's already diggin' Dobby the House Elf, just like her Daddy.  She particularly loves reading library books at the moment.  What I mean by reading is tearing pages out of library books :(

And like her Daddy she loves to watch TV.  She's got the fundamentals down pat - you know, The Simpsons, and Peppa Pig.  Here she is channelling a little bit of Hannibal Lector.  No, I have not let her watch Silence of the Lambs.  What kind of psycho parent do you think I am??

She's a precious little monkey who I obviously adore.  Sometimes my heart aches because of how quickly she's changing.  I wish I had a pause button so I could just enjoy moments a little longer.  Like cheese and bacon roll moments.

Love you Rosie.

Yesterday...

Four years ago...

We got hitched!

If you hadn't already guessed ;)

He still makes me laugh like this today.  Particularly when I'm being intense.  I prefer passionate.  But we both agree it's the Greek in me coming out.

I love these tree shots.  We raced another newly married couple to it and beat them there.  The light was fading so it was sweet victory.

It was a lovely day.  But it's hard to remember the specifics.

All I know is I married the right man for me.

And we're on the road to perfection together.
